Open water competitions bring together swimmers from clubs across South Australia. They’re a chance to challenge yourself, enjoy a bit of friendly rivalry and catch up with familiar faces — often before you’ve even reached the starting line!

Unlike pool competitions, you don’t usually enter open water events via SwimCentral.
Open water swims are published in lots of places (sometimes just one of several places). That makes it a bit hard to find what’s really available and how to enter. On this pages we try to do our best to put all the events you can enter near Adelaide into one place. Once an event is officially published it should be listed on the MSSA events page, with links to where to register. It could also appear in searches on Ocean Swims (you’ll need to add in the dates). It can also appear on Webscorer.

13th December: Noarlunga Reef Swim

28th December morning swim: Proclamation Classic swim (Glenelg)

Starts and finishes: South Glenelg Jetty
There’s a 1km circuit around some buoys. Event options are one or two laps.

Starts: Seacliff Hotel
Finishes: Brighton Hotel
This is a 1.6km point-to-point swim.
