Proclamation Classic Swim

This swim is held on Proclamation Day, 28th December, in conjunction with the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club. This swim is made possible by the support from City of Holdfast Bay. The swim is part of the Bay Sports Festival at beautiful Glenelg Beach, and the Channel 9 Open Water Swim series.

The Proclamation Classic Swim draws its inspiration from South Australia’s 180-year heritage. Taking its name from the Governor’s Proclamation on 28 December 1836 that established the colony. The event pits swimmers’ skills and endurance against an historical constant: the beautiful waters of ‘the Bay’.
The Proclamation Classic gives swimmers the option to swim one or two kilometres. Both start and finish on the southern side of Glenelg Jetty.
